Within TLD you are able to upload a file of leads to an existing vendor source.
The steps provided will be under the assumption that the leads you are uploading do not exist within TLD yet.
We do not recommend re-uploading existing leads back into TLD, as it may cause reporting issues, duplicate issues, among other things.
A carrier, or another third party entity may provide you a file in a variety of different formats that work for them, however, TLD will only accept Comma Delimited CSV files.
You must also provide at least one valid phone number or email address for a lead to actually be uploaded.
Below is an example of a file that we are uploading into TLD.
Each Data Point is in its own column, and each lead is in its own line. However, there is some clean up to be done in order for TLD to accept the file, such as:
Any Columns that DON’T need to be uploaded into TLD need to be removed
The Columns need to be renamed into what will be accepted by TLD
(optional) Deduping the file against existing leads in the system.
Removing Columns that Don’t Need to Be Uploaded
Since Hair Color isn’t a metric we really need to track in TLD, we’ll delete that column, leaving us with just the basic contact information.
Renaming the Columns into points that TLD accepts
If you attempted to upload the file as is, you will likely run into this issue.
We have yet to rename the columns into what TLD accepts! But that is easy to find.
Just head on down to Leads → Vendor Sources , and click “Print Vendor Posting Instructions” on the vendor you are uploading to.
Once you are in the Vendors Posting Instructions, you will scroll past the response codes until you get to Primary Contact / Lead Fields section.
Here is the column names that will be accepted into TLD, and specifics of what needs to be put into them in order for TLD to accept it.
Further down there is Spouse Fields, Dependent Fields, Policy Fields, Note Fields, and Custom Fields. Check them all out to see which one best suits your needs!
Since in our example file we have the columns named First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Email, Address, City, State and Date of Birth, comparing it to the Post instructions, we know we have to rename them the following way
First Name → first_name
Last Name → last_name
Phone Number → phone
Email → email
Address → address
State → state
Date of Birth → dob
Column names are case sensitive! Make sure there are no errant spaces in the names as well or else you will receive errors when preparing to upload.
(Optional) Deduping the File
The because Lead Deduper Tool is a separate module, separate instructions will be provided in another confluence article linked below.

Actually Uploading the File
Head on Over to Leads → Upload for this , and then under “Upload File” , select the file that you are uploading.
This does not actually “Upload” the file immediately to wherever. This simply ‘uploads’ it into the uploader.
When the file is loaded into TLD, and all the column names match what is accepted into TLD, it will look like this.
If for some reason it does not look like this, it is likely that the column names don’t match what is accepted in TLD and you will have to revise and re-upload it back into the uploader.
First, find the vendor you are uploading to in the dropdown, or by pasting the vendor ID under “filter items”, then click “Select vendor” for that change to be confirmed.
Review the Duplicate Checking settings. PLEASE REVIEW THE DUPLICATE CHECKING SETTINGS.
Duplicate Checking TLDR
Allow Duplicates seems tempting to pick, but please DO NOT PICK THIS.
Reject if in this Account means that if there is a duplicate lead with the same phone number in the entire account, it will reject and not create that lead.
Reject if in this Vendor means that it will reject duplicates if its within itself. This is most commonly used.
Reject if in this Account by Criteria, and Reject if in this Vendor by Criteria have been used with mixed results, and I personally would not recommend using it without trying to upload a batch of test leads first to see if they are uploaded correctly per the chosen Criteria sets.
The settings further down the page are very situational and do not usually pertain to plain lead uploads.
However, if you feel any of the below settings relate to what you are trying to do, please reach out in your designated slack channel and we’d be happy to take a look and determine if any of these fit your needs!
At this point, please double check everything you are uploading, and all settings on this screen!
Once something is uploaded, it CANNOT be undone!
We do not ‘delete’ leads in TLD, and that includes leads from clumsy uploads.
Once you are sure that everything selected is what you want, click “Process Upload”
You will then be redirected to this screen where you can watch the upload in real time.
Larger uploads may cause this page to lag out, but I promise the upload is still processing.
If you remain on this screen and the upload is completed, you can see the errors and successes.
You can also see the errors and successes in the Upload history as well back in the Leads → Upload screen.
If you click “View Logs”, you can view what data was uploaded in successful leads, and what the error codes were for unsuccessful leads.
If the deduper tool was used beforehand, there may be significantly less errors, or no errors at all.
